- Refrigerator Filters
Water lines in refrigerators have become a must-have convenience as people prefer cold drinking water at home.
The brand of refrigerator you have will require a special type of replacement water filter, which will generally need to be changed every 6 months – depending on use.
Having a clean filter means your water will be clearer, cleaner and taste better. Waterborne impurities will be filtered out, leaving purer water with no odors.
Major brands that require filters are Kitchenaid, Maytag, Whirlpool, Amana, Viking, Kenmore, Jennair, LG, Samsung, Frigidaire, AGA Pro, GE. Electrolux, Bosch, Hot Point and others.
When you install a new refrigerator filter, there could be some sputtering and spitting of water. This is normal as air is being forced out of the filter media. Once the carbon media becomes saturated with water, the sputtering will stop and the water will flow smoothly.
Changing the filter is easy – check your owner’s manual to locate the filter. It is generally found at the top, bottom or inside the fridge. Simply remove the old one and replace with your new refrigerator filter. Many fridge models have indicator lights so you know when it is time to replace the filter. Once the light comes on, you should place your order so you have your new filters within a week. It is always a good idea to buy a multi pack, so you have a spare filter on hand when you need it.
